Anne Clarke intervention brings improved bus services during Colindale Station closure

Transport for London (TfL) are looking to run additional services between Grahame Park and Hendon Central on the 186 bus route to meet the needs of some displaced customers for the duration of works to Colindale Tube station, following a call for improved bus services by Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Anne Clarke.

Colindale Station is to close for six months on Friday June 7 until December to enable it to undergo a major capacity upgrade that will include providing step-free access. In addition, the Northern line’s Edgware branch will be part-closed for 10 days after Easter this year.

Ms Clarke said:

‘I have been speaking to TfL about the closure of the station and how to minimise disruption, including better communications with residents. TfL have already agreed to hold drop-in sessions with residents to advise them on alternative travel options and advertise the closure better.

‘I understand the frustration residents in Colindale feel around the disruption this closure will cause, that’s why I’ve campaigned successfully to improve bus services between Colindale and Hendon, and continue to press for even more improvements.

However, these works are urgently needed to improve capacity at the station. The population of Colindale has more than doubled already, and will continue to grow. The current station is not fit for purpose anymore and does not have the capacity to handle demand.’
