Unmesh Desai AM responds to the news that more than 1,000 officers in the Metropolitan Police force are suspended or on restricted duties
Commenting on the news that more than 1,000 officers in the Metropolitan Police force are suspended or on restricted duties currently, and that 60 officers could face the sack each month, London Assembly Labour Policing spokesperson and Member for City and East, Unmesh Desai AM said:
“I welcome the steps that the Metropolitan Police are taking to reckon with the institutional failings exposed by the Casey Review. These unprecedented numbers of investigations will help rebuild trust in policing – especially from those groups who have been failed by the Met over recent years.
“I urge the Metropolitan Police to speed up this work so that they can get on with the job of keeping Londoners safe without being hampered by corruption, malpractice or discrimination within their ranks."
