Enfield charities win funding bid backed by Mayor of London
Two Enfield based charities have secured funding from the Civil Society Roots programme, a partnership between the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, with The National Lottery Community Fund and City Bridge Foundation, to help low-income and marginalised communities.
The Enfield Somali Community Association secured £23,500 and the Enfield Law Centre received £29,999 directly from the National Lottery Community Fund.
The overall fund of over £600,0000 will help communities impacted by inequalities across the capital, including Black, Asian and minority ethnic Londoners, deaf and disabled Londoners, LGBTQI+ Londoners, older Londoners, and women.
The funding is specifically aimed at supporting organisations to respond to, and serve, the needs of communities that were hardest hit by the impact of the pandemic and now impacted by the ongoing cost of living crisis.
Labour London Assembly Member for Enfield & Haringey, Joanne McCartney AM, said:
“It’s great to see direct investment from the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and partners into Enfield to help those in desperate need thanks to the cost of living crisis. Following on from the Mayor’s funding of free school meals for all primary school children, this shows yet more commitment to helping the most vulnerable and hard to reach in our community who are bearing the brunt of the economic catastrophe caused by the disastrous mini-budget last year, and skyrocketing prices.”
