He was elected uncontested at the group’s annual AGM, held 2 May 2023. The AGM also elected Emma Best AM as deputy leader, and Tony Devenish AM as the group secretary (whip), both of which were also uncontested.

Neil Garratt succeeds Susan Hall AM, who has served as leader since 2019.

Neil Garratt AM, the newly elected leader of the City Hall Conservatives, said:

“I am honoured to have been elected by my colleagues as the new leader of the City Hall Conservatives. I want to pay tribute to Susan Hall, who has tirelessly led the group since 2019 and transformed it into the capable and effective organisation it is today.

“As the City Hall Conservatives, we are committed to representing every single street of our great city, and hold the Mayor of London to account for his actions and decisions. I am excited to work with my colleagues and Londoners to address the serious challenges London is currently facing under our current Mayor, and set out our vision for how we can achieve a brighter future for our city.”
