Cyclists to park e-bikes in designated bays

Following news that cyclists will be forced to park e-bikes in designated bays in the West End, London Assembly Labour’s Transport spokesperson, Elly Baker AM, said:

“Cycling is a key part of London’s transport mix and it’s important that we explore new forms of technology, including e-bikes, to find out how they can play a positive role for all Londoners.

“But all bikes need to be parked in the right place and not abandoned in the street, so they don’t create hazards for pedestrians or impede public transport.

“I am impressed by Westminster Council’s work in tackling nuisance dockless bikes, but this is a pan-London issue that needs a pan-London approach.

“I will investigate what can be done from City Hall to ensure a safe, long-term, solution as more Londoners choose different ways to get around our city.”
