Key information

Request reference number: MGLA200224-7054

Date of response:

Summary of request

Your request

Please would you let me have by return a copy of the current Equality Impact Assessment supporting your decision to restrict free travel for pensioners, one of the poorest groups in London society and heavily populated by women and ethnic minority residents.

The EIA on line release to restrictions imposed during COVID and refers to the need for social distancing, which clearly does not apply currently.

While replying, I would also like you to supply please:

  • TfL's estimate of revenue collected from pensioners travelling on TfL on weekdays before 9.00 per year and
  • TfL's estimate of revenue foregone per year as a result of provision of free travel for spouses /partners of TfL and associated staff

Please treat this as a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

Our response

The Equality Impact Assessment is available on the Mayoral Decisions page (Appendix C):

MD3014 Proposed permanent changes to free travel arrangements for older Londoners | London City Hall

The GLA does not hold the further information you are seeking. Transport for London (TfL) is the Mayor's transport authority and is responsible for implementing the Mayor's Transport Strategy, and for the day-to-day operational running of transport services. You may wish to send a further request to TfL at [email protected].
