Biography

Tom is Assistant Director for Communities and Social Policy, responsible for providing strategic leadership across the Unit which includes teams on social inclusion, equalities and fairness and community engagement. The Communities and Social Policy Unit also work closely with the GLA’s City Intelligence Unit to support the development of London’s social evidence base.

Prior to joining the GLA Tom was Director of the UK Programme at Save the Children, where he led work across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to tackle child poverty and improve early years services for children and families. Tom started his career in central Government where he worked in the Sure Start Unit and as Deputy Head of the UK Government’s Child Poverty Unit.
