Biography
Ann-Marie started her career as an Economic Analyst, contributing to the development of Skills and Employment strategies to address inequalities between various community groups. She has built up over 15 years' experience in leading major business support, skills and employment schemes. She played a key role in the implementation of the delegated Adult Education Budget in London and led the delivery of significant portfolios under the fund.
Other notable programmes she has led at the GLA include the Employer Led Apprenticeship Creation Programme, London's Skills Bootcamps, and the Building Safety Fund for high-rise buildings in London. Before joining the GLA, she worked at Southwark Council where she designed a Business Support Programme after the 2008-9 recession and managed the Southwark Works Employment Programme.
Additionally, Ann-Marie has a wealth of experience gained from voluntary and public sector roles in managing and developing teams and leading culture shifts to improve diversity and inclusion.
Responsibilities
Responsible for providing leadership and management for the whole of the Skills and Employment Unit alongside the Assistant Director for Skills and Employment Delivery, but with specific responsibility for the Policy function.
This function supports the strategy, policy and analysis of the Mayor's skills and employment programmes and wider coordination of workforce development for London's economy.
It currently consists of the following teams: Strategy, Relationships and Governance, Funding Policy and Systems, and the Portfolio Management Office.
