You can ask about anything that falls under the Mayor's control.

You can find out more about the Mayor's responsibilities. There will be 5 core topics up for discussion on the night - transport, policing and safety, air quality and the environment, housing and London’s economic recovery.

Questions that fall outside of these core areas were asked in the final open section.

If your question doesn’t get asked on the night, you can contact the Mayor after the event. We aim to respond within 20 working days.

We expect around 3 questions to be asked and answered in each of the five main topic sections, but this may be more or less depending on time constraints. 2 will be live video questions and 1 will be from the live chat function on the night.

The questions are submitted as follows:

  • video questions: Londoners can submit a question using the registration form for consideration as a live video question on the night. Questions will be randomly selected from those accepted using a weighting process to ensure demographic representation. This option closed at 5pm on 20 January 2022
  • live chat questions: you can register to watch a livestream of the event using the registration form which also enables you to post a question in the live chat forum on the night, which could get put to the Mayor and London Assembly by the Chair. Viewers can ‘like’ their favourite questions, with the most popular being shortlisted to the PQT Chair, and who will select as many as possible in the allocated time. This option closed at 5pm on 2 February 2022.

The Chair will direct each question (live video and live chat) to the Mayor and/or Assembly Members for a response. Neither the Mayor nor Assembly Members will have access to the questions in advance.

Owing to online safeguarding issues you must be 16 or over to take part

There are 5 topics being discussed on the night including transport, policing and safety, air quality and the environment, housing and London’s economic recovery. There will be a final section where any other questions within the Mayor’s remit can be asked – for example culture and education.

Yes. There will be a BSL interpreter on screen (PIP - picture in picture) and subtitles on the screen via a palantypist throughout the event. A full transcript of the event will be available on request.

As an online event, you will need to have digital access. If you know someone who is unable to get online but wants to engage in the event, please ask them to call 07704 347 956. Lines will be open until 12pm on Wednesday 2 February.

To be able to ask questions live on the night you must register using the form above.

Once you have registered, you will automatically receive a link to the event, which allows you to participate by asking questions in the chat function live on the night. The link will be live from 6.45pm for a 7pm start.

The event will also be live-streamed on this page.

Yes, you do not need to register, the event will be live-streamed on this page.

As we want to get through as many questions as possible, from as many people as possible, could you:

  • ask only one question
  • stay on topic, such as transport, environment
  • keep questions concise and to the point.

On the night: we want to ensure that Londoners get to ask their questions to the PQT panel, but we will not subject them, or viewers of the event, to abuse.

Questions will, therefore, be moderated before they are posted to the live chat, and those that contain swearing, defamatory or illegal remarks or engage in ‘trolling’ will not be posted.

Questions that are off-topic, during a specific topic session, will also be discarded. Unfortunately, due to the large number of questions we anticipate, we will not be able to go back to questions submitted in the wrong topic section.

Depending on the scale of questions submitted on the night, we may not be able to post all questions into the live chat within the time constraints.
