The Mayor of London has partnered with Laureus Sport for Good and Nike to deliver an innovative place-based initiative called ‘Model City London’. Model City London is aimed at improving social integration through sport by empowering local people to drive the change they want to see in their community.

The programme is delivering in three areas of London: Barking, Haringey, and Hounslow. Each area has an active ‘coalition’ of local people and organisations working together with the support of a community coordinator to deliver change through sport and physical activity in their respective locations.

What changes do local people want to see?

NDTI (National Development Team for Inclusion), the evaluation and learning partner for Model City, has been working closely with the three areas to help them decide what they wanted to achieve through Model City, and to help them capture their impact. Find out more about the local outcomes and visions of change in each of the three areas.

What has been the impact so far?

The Model City London programme has been delivering since 2018. As a pilot that is continually evolving, it has been important to evaluate what has worked, and importantly what hasn’t worked.

Working with the three coalitions, NDTi has produced several reports which tell the journey of Model City to date.
