As part of the High Streets for All Mission and on behalf of the London Recovery Board, we’ve launched the High Streets Data Service and Partnership. The project is taking a new approach to the way high streets data is accessed, used and managed. As part of the first phase, London boroughs have been invited to become subscribing members of the Data Partnership.

Our aim is to provide organisations ongoing access to the best local high streets data at low cost and to build a community of data users that can share information, experience and build local capacity.

This project builds on our work supporting London’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic by sharing free data sets with boroughs through the London Datastore. It draws on recent partnership work with the Alan Turing Institute. It is also supported by an independent feasibility report, as recommended by the High Streets & Town Centres Adaptive Strategies.

High Streets Data Service

A user-friendly and regularly updated hub for good evidence and insights about high streets and town centres.

It will bring together:

  • new data purchased through the partnership (such as footfall or spend data)
  • existing data sets (such as planning, cultural or air quality data).

Users will be able to:

  • look in depth at a particular high street
  • understand change over time
  • compare with other high streets nearby or across London.

High Streets Data Partnership

A group of London organisations responsible for coordinating high streets and town centres data, including the GLA, London Councils and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs).

This partnership will:

  • make decisions on collective data purchasing
  • provide ongoing reflection on the use of data and the promotion of new sources of data

Membership of the Partnership is currently only open to London boroughs.
