The Census is our richest source of population and socio-demographic data. It is the only source of detailed information on the characteristics of small groups and local neighbourhoods in London.

The GLA’s Census team runs the Census Information Scheme that will provide tools, training and advice to London’s local authorities, the GLA and its functional bodies so that they can exploit the huge range of information provided by the 2021 Census.

First results from the 2021 Census were published on 28 June 2022, comprising population counts by age and sex for local authorities. More detailed figures will follow from October 2022.

London-specific analysis of 2021 figures produced by the Census Information Scheme will be found on the London Datastore together with data and analyses of 2011 and earlier censuses.
