Apprenticeships for Londoners funding
To help businesses take up the opportunities presented by apprenticeships, the Mayor has made funds available for two projects that will increase the number of sustainable apprenticeships starts in London.
The projects will be designed to provide additional support to businesses across London to increase their use of apprentices.
Total funding per project will be £393,000. A proportion of that funding will be made available to support start-up costs.
This funding opportunity has closed with Local London and Croydon College being selected to take forward pilots to help businesses take up opportunities presented by apprenticeships in London.

Apprenticeships offer a huge range of accredited and non-accredited learning, experience and opportunities for those who undertake them, as well as making an important economic and social contribution to London. We are working to ensure that all Londoners have access to the opportunities a quality apprenticeship provides, and that the apprenticeship system can better meet the skills needs of the capital’s employers.
The Mayor of London is committed to improving London’s historic low rate of apprenticeship starts in comparison with other regions. In his manifesto, the Mayor committed to “develop high-quality apprenticeship programmes in partnership with industry.” In his 2018 Skills for Londoners Strategy, the Mayor pledged that City Hall would “promote productivity by supporting employers to develop and make the best use of the skills of their current and future workforce, including through use of their apprenticeship levy”.
