Retrofit Accelerator Workplaces (RA-W) not only helps the public sector reduce carbon emissions but also provides guaranteed energy savings.From March 2016 to June 2023 the programme was co-funded by the ERDF. It continues with funding from the Mayor of London to provide support to public sector organisations.

Between 2016 and 2023 RA-W has completed 71 projects for a range of public sector organisations including 13 London boroughs, 11 education providers  and six NHS Trusts. These projects included a range of activities including upgraded LED lighting, insulation, renewable heating, solar PV and building energy management systems.

One NHS trust reported energy costs savings of £234,000 over four years since implementing measures reccomended through RA-W. Another NHS trust is saving £1.6m annually through the retrofit works supported by RA-W.

Awards

Transport for London (TfL) – CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2019
Transport for London (TfL) received four nominations at the CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) building performance awards, winning the award for Facilities Management team for works across their estates portfolio in particular the completed works at Palaestra House.
 
The work at Palaestra House have seen a spend of circa £1.5 million resulting in significant financial savings of £440,000 per annum.
The awards focus on recognising the measurable performances from organisations, products and projects that demonstrate engineering excellence across the building industry. TfL were recognised for their exemplary efforts to deliver outstanding building performance across a portfolio of assets.
 
Hounslow Schools – Energy Efficient Partnership Awards 2018
London Borough of Hounslow won the Energy Efficient Partnership Award at Energy Awards for their Retrofit Accelerator – Workplaces schools programme assisted by Larkfleet group who delivered the borough’s award winning scheme. The same programme was also shortlisted for the Community Initiative Award at the Energy Institute Awards.
 
London Borough of Hounslow has so far installed energy conservation measures across 11 schools, reducing energy use by 1,200,000 kWh per year saving over £150,000 off their energy bill every year and reduced carbon emissions by 303 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year so far – equivalent to the annual carbon emission of 80 averaged-sized homes.
