Key findings in 16-19 education and training

  • 90 per cent of London students stay in education after completing key stage four compared to the national figure of 83.8 per cent
  • Around one in 20 young Londoners aged 16-17 are not in education, employment or training (NEET) or their destination is unknown. This is lower than the national average
  • Between 2015-2018, nearly two thirds of Londoners achieved a level three qualification by age 19. This is higher than the national average of 57 per cent
  • London students' Average Point Score (APS) for level three qualifications is 31.9, just above the national average of 31.8
  • In 2018, the percentage of London students taking STEM subjects at key stage five increased across the board
