The challenge
We know that more can be done to support developers with the complex processes required to connect into local infrastructure networks and we are here to help.
We conducted a poll of property developers on their views connecting to the utility distribution networks:
- 79% have experienced disruption in connecting to the utilities networks
- 43% say that their investments have been significantly disrupted
- 62% have had unforeseen costs from utilities disruption
- 98% say that the disruption had caused delays
Challenges connecting into utilities can:
- Act as a blocker to the feasibility of future sites
- Hold up the construction of a development that has achieved planning permission
- Create significant disruption to the public, through multiple streetworks
- Bring additional costs to developers
- Cause redesign at the detailed design stages
Our role is to substantively improve the process. Our service is designed to be a convener, finding alignment in the mutual interests of each party.
