Welcome to Acton and Park Royal
The Acton and Park Royal Creative Enterprise Zone launched in 2022 is home to hundreds of creatives including artists, designers, makers, photographers, film makers and musicians.
Across the zone there are 15 artists’ studios and creative workspaces, three large film studios, 14 smaller film, photography and recording studios, three rehearsal spaces, and over ten creative manufacturing businesses.
At the heart of the community is Park Royal Design District who bring the area together by delivering a programme of engaging and inclusive projects and events that support local people developing their careers and building their businesses in the arts and creative sector.
The district is also a prominent feature in the programmes of London Craft Week and London Design Festival, showcasing the zone’s talented creatives through a range of activities including open studios, pop-up shops, workshops, tours, events and exhibitions on an annual basis.
What’s happening in the zone
Acton and Park Royal aims to support and protect the area’s thriving creative community for years to come.
The zone is working closely with the community to provide funding, training and employment opportunities – particularly for young people, business support, affordable creative workspaces and community events and activities.
This is to ensure homegrown creative industries, artists and businesses are at the heart of the regeneration and development in the area.
Funding for creatives
In 2022, the zone launched an Open Call for innovative ideas to support creativity and opportunities in Acton and Park Royal.
More than £150,000 of funding to support the best ideas was provided, and the successful projects are currently delivering their ideas. They are focussed on providing affordable community and creative spaces, developing creative talent and a digital network platform.
Supporting green initiatives
In 2022, Acton and Park Royal was awarded £150,00 from the Mayor of London to support creative workspaces in the zone to become greener and more sustainable as they try to deal with the pressure of rising energy bills. With this funding, the team launched The Loan Fund, a mixed grant and loan programme to support sustainability and futureproof local workspaces.
New and existing creative businesses can apply to make improvements and expand their businesses, and affordable workspace providers can apply to expand their premises. Find out more and apply
The zone is also home to Re-Made in Park Royal, a material recycling centre connecting artists and makers with waste and surplus materials from the local area. So far 400 wood pallets, five movie sets, four tonnes of clay, two shop interiors and 100 kg of metal have collected. Materials have gone on to support artistic production across the zone, from making new park benches and planters to creating studio walls and cladding for workspaces. Learn more and get in touch
Affordable workspace and resources
Housed in the same building as Re-Made in Park Royal is the Park Royal Open Access Workshop (POW) which offers affordable workspace for creatives in the zone. The location is ideal for makers, fabricators, freelancers, sole traders and artists looking for a shared working space. At POW there is also access to shared equipment and facilities, as well as flexible space to hold meetings, events, workshops, and activities. Find out more and book a space
Find out more and get involved
The Acton and Park Royal Creative Enterprise Zone is led in partnership by Ealing Council and the Mayor of London’s Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC).
The team would love to hear from anyone interested in opportunities in the creative sector, looking to get involved in the zone, organisations wanting to support the community and if you have an idea, initiative or project that could make an impact.
Ealing arts and culture network is made up of artists and organisations working across the arts, culture and creative and digital industries in Ealing. The network meets a couple of times a year to share skills and resources and to encourage collaborative working. They also get regular updates from the council’s arts and culture service. These include funding opportunities, employment opportunities, and relevant updates and information.
367,100 Creatives – Ealing Council’s cultural manifesto also aims to engage every one of the borough’s residents to connect with culture. Learn more
