She is determined to tackle health inequalities by ensuring everyone has the best possible opportunities with good housing, a safe and healthy environment and the possibility to live a fulfilling and happy life with secure employment.

Ruth is one of the Vice-Chairs on the London Councils' Executive and Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group.

She leads on Health for South West London, is the co-chair of the South West London Integrated Care Partnership and a member of the SWL Integrated Care Board.
 

Councillor Nesil Caliskan was born and lives in the London Borough of Enfield which she now serves as Leader of the Council.

An active community campaigner for two decades, Councillor Caliskan served as an Executive Member of the National Union of Students while at university and has BA in Politics and International Relations (University of Reading) and an MSc in Politics & Communications from the London School of Economics and Political Science. 

She was first elected as a Labour Party ward councillor in Enfield in 2015. In 2018 she became the first person from a Black or Minority Ethnic background, and the first woman, to be elected as Leader of Enfield Council.

She was re-elected into this position following the 2022 local elections. Her administration has a strong focus on delivering services that help and support residents, creating opportunities for young people, building more good quality and affordable housing for local people and investing in the borough’s town centres.

Councillor Caliskan is the Executive Member for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Care for London Councils and Chairs the Local Government Associations’ Safer & Stronger Communities Board, representing local government on a national level on crime, anti-social behaviour, police governance and accountability, community safety and other regulatory activities.

In 2022, she was elected by Labour councillors from across the country to sit on the Labour Party’s National Executive Committee.

Having held several senior roles at the Department of Health and been a member of its Board, Richard is extremely familiar with how Government works at the highest levels. Before his retirement in April 2015, he was responsible for ensuring that the department itself, along with the health service, managed their finances effectively; and for this role, Richard was accountable to parliament. He also had primary responsibility for NHS policy and the government’s relationship with the NHS and from 2011 to 2014 was also Head of the Government Finance profession.

Richard started his career with the National Audit Office and worked at the Department of Health on three separate occasions. Prior to his return to the Department in 2001, he was the finance director for National Savings & Investments.

Richard, who is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, is married to Carole a retired nurse, has three children and is also a grandfather of four. Amongst his many interests, he is an avid follower of Leeds United. In 2003 he was awarded membership of The Gild of Freemen of the City of York, the city in which he was born. In 2006 he was awarded membership of the Order of the Bath (CB) for services to health.

With 20 years of NHS Board experience, Marie is currently the Chair Designate of the North East London ICS and Chair of the NHS Race and Health Observatory. Prior to this, Marie chaired mental health and commissioning organisations with budgets up to £3bn. Her first NED role was as Vice Chair of an acute Trust.

Nationally, Marie is a member of NHS England's National People Board and Equality and Diversity Advisory Group and regionally, she is Co-Chair of the London People Board. Marie's background is in local government and the voluntary sector with particular experience in social justice, regeneration and equity.

She is currently Trustee of two East London charities and one national charity. Marie's contribution to her local community has been recognised through the award of the Freedom of the London Borough of Newham and her contribution to the NHS through the award of her CBE.

Jo was raised and trained as a Dr in London, where she has exclusively worked; she has been a GP in Old Street, since 1999.

Jo is Chair of NHS North Central London CCG and works in close partnership with local authority & health service colleagues across London to drive the best outcomes for our residents. With a particular interest in workforce planning and development, she is a Clinical Commissioner representative on the London People Board. As London Region representative on the board of NHS Clinical Commissioners since 2017, she has worked to ensure that our London experience informs national commissioning strategy.

In the context of our Covid-19 response, she has led the response in primary care across NCL and as member of the London Clinical Advisory Group, has helped oversee the pathway changes critical to our response for London.
Looking beyond Covid-19, to our collective imperative to reduce the impact of climate change for future generations, she is appointed Clinical lead to drive achievement of a Net Zero Health Service and alignment with the aspirations of Our Vision for London.

Cllr. Butt has lived in Brent all his life. He is a father of three, and his wife is a Brent registered child-minder. Born in Central Middlesex Hospital and schooled in the borough, he has represented his home ward Tokyngton since 2006.

First elected as Leader of the Council in May 2012, Cllr Butt has prioritised creating good jobs for local people, protecting the most vulnerable residents and supporting economic regeneration across Brent.

Muhammed will work with Tokynton’s local community including its local forums and neighbourhood watch groups to take up any issue, big or small.

Muhammed will be the local residents advocate, standing up for the things that matter to the community, from anti-social behaviour to environmental issues and improving Tokyngton’s roads and pavements.

His key priorities are affordable housing, good jobs and supporting young people for the best start in live. His driving energy is to provide hope, ambition and aspiration to the residents of Brent and Tokyngton.
