Assembly crosses paths with Crossrail

Created on
13 January 2015

This meeting took place on 14 January 2015. Read the transcript for the first section here, the second section here and the third section here.

Will extensions delay the opening of Crossrail and present challenges for integrating it within Transport for London (TfL)?

Would any extensions lead to a reconsideration of installing toilets on board trains?

The London Assembly Transport Committee will tomorrow discuss progress in delivering Crossrail with the following guests:

Terry Morgan CBE, Chair, Crossrail Ltd

Andrew Wolstenholme OBE, Chief Executive, Crossrail Ltd

The second section of the meeting will focus on Crossrail 2.

How vital is the £28 billion project to London’s long term growth and to meet increased demand?

Will the Government commit any further money to the project?

How will TfL and Network Rail spend the £2 million the Government has already given?

Will fare rises pay for it and will private sector funding be achieved?

The guests are:

Dr Michèle Dix CBE, Managing Director, Planning, Transport for London

Paul Harwood, Principal Network Planner, Network Rail

At the beginning of the second session, the Chair will give Paul Harwood the opportunity to update the Committee about ongoing service disruptions at London Bridge, and measures put in place to address problems.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 14 January from 10am in The Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed via webcast.
