Tuesday 24 November
London’s changing economy – productive, flexible, inclusive?
Economy Committee – 10:00am in Committee Room 5

The Economy Committee will explore changes in the labour market for employees and will hear directly from workers in the hospitality sector discussing their contracts, hours, benefits, pay and progression.

In the first part of the meeting, the following guests will be questioned:

  • Fiona Wilson, Head of Research and Economics, USDAW.
  • Emma Stewart, CEO, Timewise Foundation.
  • Kevin Curran, Vice Chair, Unite Hotel Workers Branch.
  • Hugh O’Shea, Chief Convenor, Unite Hotel Workers Branch
  • Members of the Unite Hotel Workers Branch

In the second half, the Committee will hear from the Mayor’s economic team about what the Mayor can do to positively influence London’s economy and labour market. Guests on the panel will be:

  • Sir Edward Lister, Chief of Staff and Deputy Mayor, Policy and Planning, Greater London Authority (GLA).
  • Fiona Fletcher-Smith, Executive Director of Development, Enterprise and Environment, GLA.
  • Gerard Lyons, Chief Economic Advisor, GLA.

MOPAC Shared Services Report
GLA Oversight Committee – 10:00am in Committee Room 5

The GLA Oversight Committee will consider a number of matters, including shared services with the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, arrangements for future People’s Question Time events, the draft Assembly committee timetable for 2016/17 and a review of the Assembly’s work undertaken during the second quarter of this year.

Wednesday 25 November
Mayor’s Education Programme
Education Panel – 2:30pm in the Chamber

The Education Panel will question Munira Mirza, Deputy Mayor for Education and Culture, on what the Mayor’s Education Programme has achieved, and whether the £24 million London Schools Excellence Fund has represented value for money

London’s shortage of school places and the role of Regional School Commissioners will also be examined, with Dr Tim Coulson, Regional Schools Commissioner for East of England and North-East London, questioned.

Q&A with the Met and MOPAC
Police and Crime Committee – 10:00am in the Chamber

The Police and Crime Committee will hold a Q&A session with:

  • Craig Mackey QPM, Deputy Commissioner, Metropolitan Police Service
  • Stephen Greenhalgh, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC)

The Committee will question guests on the following topics:

  • Paris attacks
  • Comprehensive Spending Review
  • Online crime
  • Modern day slavery

People’s Question Time (PQT)
Beck Theatre, Hillingdon, UB3 2UE – 7:00-9:00pm

The London Assembly Member for Ealing and Hillingdon, Dr Onkar Sahota AM will Chair PQT in Hayes. Topics for discussion with the London Assembly and the Mayor will include:

  • Growing London’s economy
  • Housing
  • Transport
  • Environment
  • Policing and community safety
