The first map of London’s music spaces has been created to help nurture music scene across the capital. It shows the full spectrum of music performance, recording and rehearsal spaces in London highlights the areas of opportunity and growth. Londoners, the music industry and boroughs are encouraged to use this map and add venues and facilities they know of, so we can create the fullest picture possible of London’s vibrant music scene.

To develop the map, a triangulation of data sources was conducted by desk-based primary research, including rigorous web-searches and validation via company websites and cross-referencing through our consultation.

Which music facilties have been included?

Music infrastructure is defined as the buildings or premises which are used for creating, performing, consuming and rehearsing music. Any premises which programmes over six music events per year has been included. The map also captures the wider context of office and retail based business including agents, labels, managers, publishers, instrument and equipment, retail and manufacturing businesses. These are all crucial for ensuring a healthy, resilient and world-leading music industry. The map does not include youth or higher education provision, which is not open and bookable by the public.
