ULEZ Fines

Key information

Date: Thursday 08th February 2024

Time: 10:00am

Motion detail

Neil Garratt AM proposed, and Andrew Boff AM seconded, the following motion:

“This Assembly was very concerned to read in The Guardian on 26th January that “Hundreds of thousands of EU citizens were wrongly fined for driving in [the ULEZ].”

This Assembly notes that this incident is described within the article as “possibly one of the largest data breaches in EU history”.

This Assembly urges the Mayor to ensure there is a full investigation into how this occurred as well as to do whatever it takes to rectify the situation to ensure that any erroneous fines are cancelled, no more EU citizens are fined incorrectly and, as Chair of TfL, the Mayor offers a full apology to everyone who has been inconvenienced.”

Following debate and upon being put to a vote, the motion was agreed with 11 votes in favour and no votes against.
