Funding Settlement for Transport for London

Key information

Date: Thursday 23rd June 2022

Time: 10:00am

Motion detail

Elly Baker AM proposed, and Léonie Cooper AM seconded the following motion:

“That the Assembly notes the answers to the questions asked.

The Assembly further notes the current Transport for London (TfL) funding and finance package is due to come to an end on 24 June 2022.

The Assembly places on record its disappointment with the previous short-term funding deals offered by the Government. If fair, long-term revenue and capital funding deals are not reached, Londoners and businesses will face unacceptable and unfair cuts to transport services.

Therefore, we call on the Mayor and the Chair of the Assembly to write a joint letter to the Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps, calling on the Government to provide a fair and sustainable funding settlement for TfL.”

Following debate and upon being put to the vote, the motion in the name of Elly Baker AM was agreed, with 12 votes being cast in favour and 9 votes being cast against.
