Free debt advice services

The services below provide help to thousands of Londoners every year.

  • Debt Free London: - Debt Free London (formerly known as Capitalise - the London Debt Advice Partnership) is a network of 26 advice centres who provide free face-to-face debt advice and assistance to over 23,000 indebted Londoners each year. This service covers the whole of Greater London. To find your nearest free debt advice service in London call their Freephone number 0808 164 2480 on weekdays from 10am to 5pm, or visit their website
  • Money Advice Service: an independent service set up by government. It provides free and fair money advice online, on web chat, in printed guides, face to face, or over the phone on 0800 138 7777
  • StepChange: a charity that offers free debt and money managing advice. Contact them for free on 0800 138 1111
  • National Debtline: offers free and independent debt advice on 0808 808 4000

Credit unions

Credit unions are not for profit organisations that offer services such as saving accounts and low-cost loans to its members. They are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
