CleanTech Start Ups supported by Sustainable Ventures

CleanTech innovation support

Led by the Greater London Authority (GLA) and funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the Better Futures programme provides innovation support to London Climate Tech startups and SMEs.

Building on the legacy of the Better Futures rogramme (previously funded by ERDF and Green New Deal funds), the programme will continue to offer business support to London’s vibrant community of Climate Tech SMEs through a number of offerings to startups at different stages of their growth journey. Through years of hands-on experience supporting SMEs, the programme has been proven to significantly improve the success rate of Climate Tech companies.

CleanTech SME Support Strands

Spark by Better Future

Spark by Better Futures programme combines 12 years of delivering business and commercial advisory to 400+ startups into an online platform that gives pre-seed startups full access to an expansive venture development knowledge base with tried and tested tools, discussion forums and access to 1-1 support.

Criteria for support

  • – Developing a low-carbon solution that addresses climate change and/or resource scarcity
    – Registered with Companies House
    – London registered or trading address
    – At concept stage
  • – No yet revenue-generating
    – Not raise funds from institutional investors
    – Is still developing your idea, product and/or preparing for market entry

Venture Stage Support

Startups in the process of validating their technology and/or business model can access specialist 1-1 support tailored towards the most significant challenges on this journey, from brand development, organisational structure, and governance, to financial planning.

Criteria for support

– Developing a low-carbon solution that addresses climate change and/or resource scarcity
– Registered with Companies House
– London registered or trading address
– At a growth stage
– At least 2 FTEs
– Validating your business model and/or technology. If a software product, likely to have achieved validation of their technology.
– Have some commercial traction

Product development

CleanTech start-ups with a validated technology or business model can access bespoke and tailored product development support on a specific product development project of your choice across product design, development, technical feasibility, etc.

Criteria for support

– Developing a low-carbon solution that addresses climate change and/or resource scarcity
– Registered with Companies House
– London registered or trading address
– At a growth stage
– At least 2 FTEs
– Validating your business model and/or technology. If a software product, likely to have achieved validation of their technology.
– Have some commercial traction
