Supporting Community-Led Involvement and Activity in London's recovery

Two hands shake and form a heart representing a strong civil society
Created on
17 March 2021

Over the past few months, we launched Community-Led Recovery, Civil Society Roots Incubator & the Civic Futures programmes - to support community-led action, stories, partnerships and leaders that put communities most disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 at the heart of London’s recovery.

London’s long-term recovery is being coordinated by the London Recovery Board and a missions-based approach. As a team we are supporting community involvement across the wider programme and its 9-missions as well as playing a key role in the Building Strong Communities Mission - where our mission is that by 2025 all Londoners will have access to a community hub ensuring they can volunteer, get support and build strong networks.

You can read more about the investment in London’s recovery including support for communities and view Tweets from our Deputy Mayor Debbie Weekes-Bernard.

Civil Society Roots Incubator Programme

We launched the Civil Society Roots Incubator Programme to provide development support and grants to community-led partnerships and collaborations that raise the voices of Londoners, increase feelings of belonging and increase access to support and services. This programme sits within the Building Strong Communities Mission and consists of two streams to support both new/early stage and existing partnerships. 20 grantees have been awarded grants and will undertake a six-month incubator programme to further develop partnership skills and sustainability.

Civic Futures Programme

We launched the second iteration of our fellowship programme to bring 30 leaders across London’s civil society and local government who work to serve their communities. The programme will support these leaders to facilitate collective learning and discovery focused on collaboration, exploration and inquiry and systems thinking to support London’s recovery. The cohort will collaborate with us to co-develop projects and solutions across the 9 recovery missions.
