Key information

Publication type: General

Publication date:

Working Papers 95 and 96 present experimental employment projections for the East of England, and the South East of England, and their sectors, to 2041.

These projections are to provide a shared understanding of the technical evidence to inform plan-making across the Wider South East.

The central projection for the East of England estimates that jobs will grow from 2016 at an annual average rate of 0.92 per cent a year, equivalent to 32,000 jobs, to reach 3.912 million in 2041.

The central projection for the South East of England estimates that jobs will grow from 2016 at an annual average rate of 0.98 per cent a year, equivalent to 54,000 jobs, to reach 6.194 million in 2041.

Alongside the London labour market projections, GLA Economics has now produced a consistent set of employment projections for the Wider South East.

Breakdowns of the employment numbers (historic and projected) by sector for the East of England, and South East of England, are available on the London Datastore.
