In January the London Night Time Commission published the Think Night report. It recommended that:

The Mayor should set up a Late-Night Transport Working Group to ensure that workers, visitors and customers can get around London quickly and safely at night.

This is a first for London and will help to realise the Mayor's vision for a 24 hour city. It will aim to ensure that workers, visitors and customers can get around London quickly and safely at night.

What will the group do?

The Late Night Transport Working group will:

  • Review the current night time offer and understand where the most pressing gaps are for night time travellers, particularly night workers
  • Identify short- and medium-term initiatives that TfL can deliver to improve and enable travel at night, including those that are linked to existing/ongoing work
  • Ensure that delivery of these initiatives is carried through by the organisation
  • Review business as usual and regular operations from a night-time perspective, connecting different parts of the business to encourage best practice as needed
  • Take into account the financial constraints and priorities facing TfL
