This investigation will follow up the Environment Committee’s recent wide-ranging investigation and report into energy by focusing in more detail on Community Energy. It will also provide an opportunity to further explore the latest status of the Solar Together scheme.
The Greater London Authority (GLA) defines community energy as “collective action taken by a self-organised network of people with a common agenda to reduce, manage or generate energy.”
Issues that the Committee may want to consider are:
- The impact and effectiveness of the Mayor’s support for Community Energy;
- How the GLA is working with stakeholders to promote community energy across London;
- The experience of Boroughs using carbon offset funding to promote Community Energy; and
- The current situation relating to Solar Together.
