Biography

I am the interim Head of Area for the South London team within the GLA’s Housing & Land directorate.

I manage strategic relationships with a number of local authorities, registered providers and other development partners to identify and deliver shared housing priorities and increase the supply of genuinely affordable homes in London.

Prior to taking on this role in April 2023, I was Head of Programme Management at the GLA, overseeing the delivery of the Mayor’s affordable homes programmes and budgets, and managing the GLA’s relationship with the programme team at the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

Previous other roles include Senior Area Manager within the North East team (my substantive post), and Area Manager within the North West team.  Before joining the GLA, I worked in local government in London and Cumbria.

Responsibilities

The Head of Area role is responsible for the delivery of the Mayor’s housing-led regeneration programmes and projects of all tenures portfolio, including the largest and most complex delivery projects in London, and implementation of the Mayor’s flagship Affordable Homes Programme.

The Head of Area and their respective teams act as both direct commissioner and client, delivering over 15,000 homes each year, working closely with Boroughs, registered providers and others to develop and deliver their housing and regeneration ambitions, alongside the Mayor’s housing targets and corporate objectives.

The Head of Area role acts as an expert technical, policy and delivery advisor within the GLA and across the Mayoral Family, leading and advising on complex projects, investments and funding programmes. Working across the GLA family, the Head of Area also advises and brokers affordable housing investment in the Mayor’s Development Corporations, across the commercial TfL portfolio and with other bodies in the Mayoral family.
