Join our mission to end homelessness

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan chats with homeless person sleeping in hostel
As Mayor of London, I’m on a mission to end rough sleeping in our city. Will you join me?

Help someone sleeping rough today

Since 2016, the Mayor’s rough sleeping services have supported 16,000 people to come in off the streets. You can help too.

How have you helped so far?

Since 2017, Londoners have stepped up to help end rough sleeping by making:

  • £700,000+

donations to rough sleeping charities since 2017, helping to support vital initiatives, projects and support services.

  • 180,000+

referrals to StreetLink since 2017, to connect a rough sleeper to support.

What is the Mayor doing?

The Mayor is doing everything he can to provide people with an immediate route off the street, longer-term accommodation and the support which people need to rebuild their lives.

Key initiatives this winter include:

  • A 24/7 No Second Night Out service, which provides an immediate safe space away from the streets and intensive support to swiftly end people’s rough sleeping.
  • The Mayor continues to work closely with Housing Justice in supporting the work of faith and grassroots groups as they continue to deliver emergency shelter and advice to those sleeping rough.
  • Coordinating London’s response during periods of severe weather and providing severe weather accomodation when local provision is full.
  • Over 1,500 move-on homes, with associated support have been delivered through funding secured by the Mayor through the Move on and Rough Sleeping Accommodation Programme.

  • A dedicated outreach service which rapidly responds to StreetLink referrals to ensure people get help as quickly as possible.
  • A specialist accommodation and support service for young people who are currently or at risk of rough sleeping in London.
  • Working with housing associations to provide a housing-led, person-centred solution to the Target 1000 (T1000) client group, individuals with histories of rough sleeping and multiple complex needs.
  • A dedicated support service for migrants who are sleeping rough in London, providing specialist casework and temporary accommodation, to help find people a sustainable route off the streets.
  • Continuing to deliver the new genuinely affordable homes. By providing safe, secure homes that Londoners can afford, the Mayor is helping to address the long-term causes of rough sleeping, and the broader housing crisis. In the year 2021-22, more council homes were started in London than in any year since 1970s.
  • Through his Life off the Streets programme, the Mayor is continuing to build on partnerships to end rough sleeping.

StreetLink is a website that connects people who are sleeping rough with local services that can help them. It makes it easier for you to help people you see who are sleeping rough to end their homelessness.

Where does my donation go?

The money raised this year will support the London Charter for Rough Sleeping, homeless organisations signed up to the charter will be able to apply for grants to deliver initiatives, projects and support services to help to end rough sleeping in London.

What your donation could provide

  • cover the cost of a kettle and mugs for a person setting up home for the first time after sleeping rough.

  • help a rough sleeper to stay connected to their outreach worker with a smartphone.

  • cover two nights of accommodation for a rough sleeper in a lodgings scheme.

  • cover the cost of a new biometric residence permit for a rough sleeper who has had theirs stolen.

  • pay for two street outreach sessions per week, to locate and support young people who are sleeping rough.

What difference are we making to people’s lives?

Daisy, Josh and Jake are a few of the hundreds of homeless people helped by services that received funding.
