The Mayor’s Construction Academy (MCA) brings together seven Hubs across London.

There are many opportunities in London to undertake skills training.  However, often it feels confusing, which means it’s hard for Londoners to navigate between the qualifications they need, the support they need to get into work and the jobs they ultimately want. For employers, it’s hard to navigate the many, many organisations offering training and employment support to track down the best people for the jobs they have.

The MCA Hubs have been set the task of bringing this all together at a local level. Our Hub coordinators are the connecting point between all the organisations helping develop the workforce, whether employers or training providers, and the people that want to be part of that workforce.

The aims of the MCA Hubs

  • ensure construction employers’ skills requirements are communicated to skills training providers, and construction skills training availability is communicated to employers
  • enable employer-led curriculum design enhancements and ensure work placement/apprenticeship/employment opportunities are shared across the collaborating MCA Hub partners
  • provide job brokerage assistance between local learners, construction skills training providers and employers
  • arrange additional pre-employability or learning support to Londoners who have failed to secure construction employment, ensuring they are guided towards new construction opportunities.
