Learn about the London Made Me shop 2022

Our first-ever boutique store launched in 2022 and featured unique gifts made by talented makers and artists from across the Mayor of London’s Creative Enterprise Zones.

But London Made Me was 'not another pop-up shop’.

The pilot project saw 14 selected London-based creative businesses come together in an intensive four-week programme to learn, build and trade their own collective shop experience on Regent Street.

The programme aimed to inspire, tool-up and empower the city’s most exciting creatives to ultimately launch their own curated spaces and help transform our high streets.

It was open from Friday 11 November to Tuesday 20 December 2022, and featured artwork to sustainably-made clothing and accessories and handmade ceramics.

There was in-store events programme of live art, workshops and product demonstrations during the three-week trading period.

The shop was delivered in partnership with Alice Mayor, Hypha Studios and The Crown Estate, with thanks to Westminster Council, the Business and IP Centre, Heart of London Business Alliance and London & Partners.

The London Made Me retail training and shop programme is brought to you by the Mayor of London as part of his flagship Creative Enterprise Zone programme.

The programme is aimed at independent artists, creatives and makers, living or working in the city’s twelve Creative Enterprise Zones and looking to take their creative business to the next level.

The scheme encompasses three core training modules including LEARN, BUILD and TRADE.

Two weeks of classroom training are followed by two weeks of ’real-time’ shop design and fit-out where all 12 participants come together (with the help of a build team) to launch their own collective pop-up site in a central London location.

Once open to the public, the 12 creative businesses are responsible for trading the store throughout the busy festive period and bringing live events to the space, as well as developing their sales and customer service skills.

This year's programme has Laura Mulhern, founder of Plan Make Do, leading our pioneering two-week creative business training programme at Somerset House, as well as Creative Consultant and Director, Jo Armitage, leading our creatives through the Shop Design and Build phase.
