About the event and how to attend

Come and join us on the 26June in London’s Living Room in City Hall to celebrate the rich culture and heritage of Gypsies, Roma and Traveller communities in London.

This in person event will be an opportunity to come together to celebrate the rich culture and heritage of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities through film, discussions, music and networking.

This year we will start our celebrations with a free screening of the film ‘Leaving to Remain’. The film follows the lives of 3 Roma living in the UK, with close ties to central Europe, whose are lives are transformed by the combination of Brexit and COVID. The film will be followed by a panel discussion.

You are then invited to attend our evening reception with invited speakers, music and conversation.

About Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month

Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month started in Brent in 2001. With endorsement from Parliament in 2007 GRTHM went national in 2008.

Lord Adonis, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Schools, when he gave his approval in October 2007 said:

‘We can challenge myths, tackle prejudice and be in a position to offer a balanced debate about the issues. We will be able to celebrate the richness that Gypsy, Roma and Travellers communities bring to our everyday lives through their many varied academic and artistic achievements.’

Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month remains a vital opportunity to tell the stories of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities and celebrate their cultural achievements.
