Since its launch in April, the City Hall funded police Violent Crime Task Force has been working round the clock to tackle violent crime and take weapons off our streets.
In the first six months of operation there have been:
- 1,361 Arrests
- 340 Knives recovered
- 258 Offensive weapons recovered
- 40 Firearms recovered
The new Metropolitan Police unit was set up with £15 million from City Hall, and is made up of more than 200 specialist officers focused solely on tackling violent crime on the streets of London.
They use a range of tactics to identify, target, and arrest offenders – from street level offenders to gangs and other larger criminal operations. Find out more about what we're doing.
