The message of ‘Tower Hamlets Together’ feels very powerful...

During the Festival of Ideas, Trapped in Zone One came together to paint a stunning mural at Ackroyd Drive Greenlink. Lockdowns made them value their local greenspace so they decided to brighten up an empty arch wall with an incredible message of unity, “Tower Hamlets Together”. Here's their story:

"After a challenging year, it was a joy to come together to make this mural. We got to meet new people and improve our green space in Tower Hamlets.

While we were doing this project, we talked about how much nature impacted all our wellbeing during the pandemic. We feel it’s really important that more communities use and enjoy their local green space. We really hope our new mural can be a positive step towards achieving that.

The feedback we’ve received about the mural has been overwhelmingly positive. The message of ‘Tower Hamlets Together’ feels very powerful at a time when division is resurfacing again in our society, especially through social media.

Doing this project, we’ve learned that creativity can play a big part in bringing communities together."
