Today we remember Makram Ali who was killed a year ago in a horrific terrorist attack that deliberately targeted innocent Londoners, many of whom were returning from Ramadan prayers.
My thoughts and best wishes are with Makram's family and friends, as well as to all those who were injured that night. Once again, we saw the heroism of our emergency services as well as bystanders who showed great courage.
This was an evil attack designed to divide us. Instead, the response from the local community, and Londoners more widely, was and remains an inspiration to us all. It proved once again that, when Londoners face adversity, we stand up for our values, we stay strong, and we remain united.
