Mayor Launches Same But Different Exhibition

Created on
02 March 2017

On 23 February 2017, the Mayor launched the ‘Same But Different’ photographic exhibition at City Hall.

The exhibition showcases the diversity of women across the country’s workplaces and challenges assumptions of what it means to be a woman working in the UK today.

Sadiq spoke at the launch, repeating his commitment to be a proud feminist in City Hall and do all he can to remove any barriers to women both inside and outside of the workplace.

He said he was delighted to host this fantastic exhibition ahead of International Women’s Day and highlight that London is open and a place where we celebrate everyone, from every walk of life, regardless of their gender.

Sadiq met with exhibition photographer Leonora Saunders and Kathryn Nawrockyi of Business in the Community – the organisers of the exhibition.

He also spoke with students from the Feminist Society at the Harris Academy in Bermondsey who told the audience, in their own words, what the project meant to them:

This is a project about strong women’s lives, giving exposure to women’s experiences. When stories are shared, we realise that we are not alone. Yes, we are all humans, the same skin and bones, but we are all equally different and special.

The Exhibition is free and will be at City Hall till Friday 10th March.
