London Overground extends to Barking Riverside

Vision for railways
Created on
08 August 2017

The Government has approved the 4.5km Overground line extension from Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside.

This extension means journeys from Barking Riverside to central London and neighbouring areas will become and easier and faster, with four trains running each hour.

This is great news for East London, as the extension will also support the building of 10,800 new homes – 50 per cent of these could be affordable plus a new school and healthcare facilities.

Work will begin next year and the first trains are expected to run in late 2021.
