If you’re a home owner or accredited private landlord in London, read on. Today, 2 February, we launched the Mayor’s new London Boiler Cashback Scheme. It means you could get £400 to replace your old, inefficient boiler. That’s good news for householders, as a new boiler can help cut your energy bills and make your home warmer, safer and more comfortable. It will also help the environment by cutting carbon emissions and improving air quality.
The scheme is open to home owners across London. However, landlords will only qualify if they are accredited with the Mayor’s London Rental Standard. It’s offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and we’re expecting it to be very popular. If you’re thinking of applying, the first thing you should do is check what type of boiler you have and how efficient it is. To be eligible, it must be 70 per cent or less efficient. That typically means a G rated boiler, either gas, LPG, solid fuel or oil. Electric boilers or heaters don’t qualify for the scheme. You can find out more about the energy efficiency of your boiler by going to this database.
Next you’ll need to get a quote from a registered Gas Safe installer or equivalent. This will give you an idea of how much it will cost to replace the boiler. Ideally, you should get three quotes from different accredited installers. You’re then ready to apply online. Make sure you give us all the details we request as otherwise we won’t be able to process your application.
If your application is successful, we will then send you the cashback voucher. It will be valid for 12 weeks from the date of issue.
Remember, your new boiler must be installed in this time or your claim will be rejected. You’ll also need to pay for the installation of your new ‘A rated’ gas boiler before you receive the cashback.
To claim your £400 send us the voucher, the invoice and all the other information detailed in our terms and conditions. This must arrive within ten working days of the voucher expiry date.
