Is the Mayor delivering enough affordable homes?
London needs to build more than 40,000 new affordable homes each year, yet conditions in the capital mean delivery has faced significant challenges.
Tomorrow, the London Assembly Housing Committee will publish its annual Affordable Housing Monitor1 which tracks the progress the Mayor is making against the capital’s targets. The Committee will then meet to discuss the findings.
Guests from the Greater London Authority (GLA), local councils and other experts in the sector will be asked to respond to the new findings and set out action required to provide Londoners with the affordable homes they need.
The guests are:
Panel 1 - GLA (2pm-3.20pm)
- Tom Copley, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development
- Natalie Daniels, Assistant Director of Housing, GLA
- Kate Webb, Head of Housing Strategy, GLA
Panel 2 - External guests (3.25pm-4.25pm)
- Jeremy Arnold, Head of Development, Wandle Housing Association
- Rachael Williamson, Head of Policy and External Affairs, Chartered Institute of Housing
- Adam Towle, Head of New Business, Housing Development, London Borough of Ealing
- Councillor Grace Williams, London Borough of Waltham Forest, and Deputy Chair and Executive Member for Housing and Regeneration, London Councils
The meeting will take place on Wednesday 18 September from 2pm, in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
