About the school
Soho Parish are renewing their healthy schools award, achieving bronze in May 2020.
Soho Parish is a small, voluntary-aided state school situated in a Victorian building in the heart of Soho, on Great Windmill Street. All of our children come from the immediate area and streets around the school including Chinatown, and we have a very mixed ethnic intake with many different languages such as Chinese, Bengali, French and Italian.
With a tiny playground and classrooms too small for more than 24 pupils, our classes are smaller than a typical state school. The advantage is that all the staff know every child by name and we can work very closely with pupils and families, providing emotional support and a ‘family’ atmosphere. The disadvantage is our funding.
The school runs a creative curriculum, and we make good use of local resources, such as museums, galleries, theatres and parks.
