Motion detail

Dr Alison Moore AM proposed, and Joanne McCartney AM seconded, the following motion:

“This Assembly objects to the Government’s decision to end free Transport for London travel for under-18s as part of the funding deal required due to loss of fares income during the COVID-19 pandemic. This Assembly notes the serious consequences that this decision will have on young Londoners, air quality and low-income families.

This Assembly agrees for the Chair of the London Assembly to write to Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP and the Chancellor, Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP on behalf of the Assembly, and calls on the Mayor to continue lobbying Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP for a reversal in this decision that affects the most vulnerable and increases inequalities.”

Following debate, and upon being put to a vote, the motion was agreed (15 votes being cast in favour and 6 abstentions).
