Local Integrated Victim Services and Local Restorative Justice Funding

Key information

Reference code: DMPCD 2015 96

Date signed:

Decision by: Stephen Greenhalgh, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime

Executive summary

In line with the Police and Crime Plan 2013/16 and the Independent Review of Victim Services in London, MOPAC has developed a victims’ commissioning strategy, which was outlined in DMPCD 2015 46. As stated in this decision, many initiatives will be carried out by the voluntary and community or ‘third’ sector in conjunction with statutory partners, particularly local authorities. As such, a total of up to £1,690,000 has been approved by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime from within the victims’ budget to support the delivery of programmes of work through Local Authorities to support victims of crime and Restorative Justice (RJ). The main objective for this work is to reduce repeat victimisation as part of both MOPAC’s, and boroughs’, wider crime prevention strategies. Following a competitive bidding process with London Local Authorities, this funding has been allocated as described herein and it is recommended that the funding is awarded to successful bidders. The resulting grants will be funded by monies from the Victims’ budget devolved from the Ministry of Justice.

Recommendation

This decision requests that the DMPC:
1. Approves the funding
2. Delegates authority for signing the grant agreements to MOPAC’s Chief Operating Officer
