London has a world-class transport system and investing in it helps support the capital’s economy and quality of life. We are revitalising London’s buses and spending millions to boost Tube performance by 30 per cent, and supporting Crossrail which will slash train journey times across the city. We are also improving London’s road network, through our new Roads Task Force, to make it safer, cleaner and more efficient for everyone.
The Mayor's Vision for Cycling will create a 'Crossrail for the bike' as part of his plans for a nearly £1 billion investment in London cycling. The route will run for more than 15 miles, very substantially segregated, from the western suburbs, through the heart of London, to Canary Wharf and Barking.
