Planning is essential to London’s continued success. The Mayor's London Plan provides the economic, environmental, transport and social framework for development in London to 2031. The Mayor ensures local plans fit with the London Plan; works with boroughs and others to develop planning frameworks for major areas of brownfield land; and considers planning proposals of strategic importance that he can refuse or take over.
The London Plan is the overall strategic plan for London, and it sets out a fully integrated economic, environmental, transport and social framework for the development of the capital to 2031.
