The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games present a unique opportunity to showcase London's unrivalled arts and culture to the world. Learn why here.
One extraordinary year
London in 2012 will be an exceptional time when the eyes of the world will be upon us. From the moment the torch arrives on 21 July 2012 until the closing ceremony on 9 September 2012, London will celebrate the Games and welcome the world with a spectacle of festivities, excitement and creativity.
We are developing a free, summer-long festival bringing the best of British and global outdoor arts to town centres, parks and squares across London. From an intimate performance in an unexpected place to an unforgettable moment in one of the city's iconic spaces, you'll be able to experience world class cultural activities on your doorstep wherever you are in London.
In 2012, we see culture as key in giving the 7.75m Londoners and anticipated 1m daily visitors to the city an extraordinary, festive Games time experience. We want both Londoners and visitors alike to enjoy and take part in the capital’s rich cultural offer.
