Created on
18 November 2014

This meeting took place on 19 November 2014. Read the transcript for the first section here and the second section here.

The London Assembly is part of the Greater London Authority (GLA) and Assembly Members are elected every four years, at the same time as the Mayor.

There are 25 London Assembly Members - twelve Labour, nine GLA Conservative, two Liberal Democrat and two Green Party Members.

The role of the Assembly is to act as a check and balance on the activities of the Mayor.

The Assembly questions the Mayor, in public, ten times a year at Mayor’s Question Time meetings, as part of its role of holding him to account[2].

Tomorrow the Assembly will question Mayor of London, Boris Johnson on subjects including:

Cycle superhighway plans

The Mayoral schedule for the next month

A compulsory London Living Wage

Climate change and the lead up to the Paris Climate Change Summit next year

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 19 November from 10am in The Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed via webcast.

Notes for Editors:

Questions put to the Mayor by the Assembly Members cover the full range of his responsibilities including policing, the fire service, regeneration and transport.
