Sadiq Khan today (Thursday 30 June) appointed Jules Pipe CBE to his top team as deputy mayor for planning, regeneration and skills.
Jules Pipe will work on key priorities for the Mayor, including major regeneration projects across the capital, providing young people with skills for their future careers, and ensuring London’s infrastructure needs are delivered to benefit all Londoners. Jules will lead on the revision of the London Plan and work closely with James Murray, deputy mayor for housing and residential development, to tackle the city’s housing crisis.
Becoming the first directly elected mayor of Hackney in 2002, and serving as Chair of London Councils since June 2010, Jules Pipe has unrivalled knowledge both of London government and the unique challenges the capital faces in the aftermath of the EU referendum result.
Jules will stand down from both these roles next month to start his full-time role at City Hall.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Jules Pipe brings to City Hall extensive knowledge of the capital, and the key challenges it faces.

- Jules Pipe will be a full-time deputy mayor and is set to step down as Mayor of Hackney and Chair of London Councils. He will take up his City Hall role following his resignation as Mayor of Hackney next month.
- In his new role, Jules Pipe will take overall responsibility for the London Plan and planning applications.
