Manufacturing in London

Economy Committee – 9:00am, Brompton Bicycle Ltd, TW8 9QR and Central Research Laboratory, UB3 1HA

The Economy Committee will visit manufacturing sites in London to consider the challenges they face and what the Mayor can do to better support small and medium-sized manufacturers.

Brompton is an iconic London brand – they make over 45,000 bikes a year and are the UK’s largest bike manufacturer, exporting to 45 countries. The Committee will also visit the Central Research Laboratory in Hayes, which is an incubator space for innovative manufacturing businesses in London.

A&E services in London

Health Committee – 10:00am in the Chamber

The Health Committee will examine the pressures facing A&E services in London and will receive an update on services across London, how effective winter planning has been and staffing issues at hospitals. The following guests will be questioned:

Transport for London Commissioner

Transport Committee – 10:00am in the Chamber

TfL's grant funding from the Department for Transport has been reduced by £2.8bn over the course of TfL's Business Plan. The Transport Committee wants to know how the recent Spending Review will affect Transport for London’s (TfL) ability to function. The Committee will question:

Environmental pressures of London’s growth

Environment Committee - 2:00pm in the Chamber

The Committee will continue its investigation into the environmental impacts of London’s population growth. This session will explore the potential for a circular economy - one with maximum recycling of materials and minimum input and waste.

Pre-Budget Report

Budget & Performance Committee

The Mayor of London will shortly present his final Budget to the London Assembly.

Does the Spending Review mean front line police officers will be protected?

Will passengers pay more to make up a shortfall in TfL funding?

And what legacy is the Mayor passing on to his successor?

The Budget and Performance Committee Pre-Budget Report will explore the difficult decisions being faced by TfL, the Met and City Hall itself.
